A famous TikTok artist, Keith Lee, experienced new lows on his family’s viral culinary tour of the Bay Area. Lee gave the northern California area an extraordinary evaluation after being forced to conclude his adventure prematurely owing to several issues and an overall disappointing experience.
The former martial arts athlete startled his fans when he announced in a video on Jan. 12 that he would no longer be a guest at local establishments. His principal reason for canceling the trip was that it jeopardized his health.
“I had an adverse response to one of the meals I consumed. “This restaurant, in particular, cooked a wide variety of meats, including shellfish,”
Lee said.
He said that his family questioned about the fish being grilled on the same grill as other menu items and was promised that the cooking area would be thoroughly cleaned before he was served.
He feels that neither the grill nor the utensils were cleaned. “The second I ate it, I blew up like a balloon,” Lee recounted. He was treated in the hospital with steroids and allergy medication, which resolved the problem. “It was a health concern nonetheless and another reason we decided to come home.”
In addition, he voiced broad concern for the well-being of Bay Area residents. According to a June story in the San Francisco Chronicle, annual earnings of less than $103,000 in the region’s three counties are deemed low-income. With the rising cost of living in the area, the homeless population has grown.
“The people in the Bay are just focused on surviving, that’s the business owners, the locals,” the culinary reviewer remarked. “The number of tents, living structures, and burned-out automobiles we witnessed people living in was astounding. Before we visited, everyone was comparing it to Gotham City. I may disagree, but I understand where you’re coming from.”
Lee observed that the Bay Area is not now a tourism destination.
Fans urged him to consider traveling outside of Oakland, but Lee’s decision seems final. “As an outsider, I wish the city would intervene.” I’m not sure whether they have… “From the outside, it doesn’t appear that there was much city interference,” he said.
However, his criticism of the cuisine may have been the tipping point. Lee said he shot six videos but would not upload them due to their lack of helpful content. I’ve never been one for utterly ripping down others.”
He also said that, although people are loyal to their favorite eateries, he did not like the cuisine he sampled.
Other cities with the “Keith Lee” treatment include Houston, New York, Chicago, and Atlanta.
