Kanye West’s tumultuous relationship with Adidas may have reached a legal resolution, but the tensions between him and his former business partner are far from over. On January 7, 2025, West took to Instagram, launching a scathing attack on the sportswear giant, accusing the brand of trying to suppress his Yeezy empire. He also directed criticism at Jerry Lorenzo, the founder of Fear of God, and other designers whom he claims are copying his unique designs.

In his lengthy post, West began by venting frustrations about what he perceives as an attempt by adidas to undermine Yeezy’s prominence online. He pointed out that adidas’ efforts were so strong that they were even overshadowing Yeezy in Google search results. “Stop doing this,” West wrote, demanding that the company cease its attempts to undermine his brand.

“Your moves to hold me back. Our partnership is done,” he declared, signaling that his grievances with the company went beyond just the legal battles.

He didn’t hold back when addressing the financial muscle behind Adidas, referring to the company as a “60 billion dollar giant” that had frozen his accounts. “I’m not going to stand for this,” he asserted, signalling his determination to stand tall despite the corporate intimidation. West further expressed how his creative efforts for Adidas were overshadowed by his struggles with the brand, claiming that his “phenomenal work” was being underappreciated. “Because I stood up for myself, y’all tried to intimidate and oppress me,” he added, emphasizing how long-standing tensions predated the controversy surrounding his antisemitic comments. The artist also called out Jerry Lorenzo, who had worked with Adidas, accusing him of being “corny and disloyal” for continuing his collaboration with the brand. West reflected on his past support for Lorenzo, noting that he had once attended Lorenzo’s show, which he felt was a direct copy of his own Hollywood Bowl show. “I showed up being the bigger man,” he wrote but added that he would never repeat this gesture. He also targeted other designers he felt were using his name and influence to promote “weak” Yeezy knockoffs.

Kanye West’s recent remarks underscore his unwavering commitment to his creative vision and his refusal to let the fashion industry’s power players undermine his work.
