The controversial rapper who has had a rough 12 months has deactivated his Instagram account and other social media channels without giving much explanation.
Kanye, who now goes by the name Ye, posted a photo on Instagram on Tuesday where he was filling out a form for Instagram deactivation.
There have been incidents where he deactivated his Instagram before. Once in 2018 and then again in 2020 after a backlashing ensuing from the announcement of support for Donald Trump on a Saturday Night Live performance where he wore a red MAGA cap.
Kanye was banned from the platform for his antisemitic comments in October 2022. In December 2022 he was banned from Twitter, despite being friends with Elon Musk, after posting an image that included a Swastika.
This probably doesn’t mean much. Don’t be surprised if he is back on the platform in no time.
Kanye who has recently announced that he won’t be running for president in 2024 has apparently decided to lie low for now.
