In a major legal decision, rapper Soulja Boy has been found legally responsible for physical and sexual abuse against his former personal assistant. The ruling came after a civil jury in Los Angeles reviewed detailed allegations from the woman, who worked closely with the artist, and concluded that he was liable for both sexual assault and physical harm.
The woman, whose identity has not been publicly disclosed for privacy reasons, initially filed the lawsuit in 2021. She claimed that during her time working for Soulja Boy she endured repeated acts of violence, including verbal threats, physical beatings, and sexual coercion. According to court records, she described a toxic and unsafe work environment where she was constantly subjected to fear and intimidation.
After examining the evidence and hearing testimony during the trial, the jury ruled in favor of the former assistant. They awarded her a total of $4.75 million this includes compensation for medical expenses, emotional distress, loss of income, and punitive damages aimed at holding the artist accountable for his actions.
Her attorneys hailed the decision as a major step forward for survivors of abuse, especially those who are mistreated by high-profile individuals in positions of power.
“This verdict shows that no one is above the law,” the legal team said in a statement. “Our client showed great courage in coming forward and speaking the truth.”
Soulja Boy, whose real name is DeAndre Cortez Way, has not yet commented on the ruling. It remains unclear whether he plans to appeal the jury’s decision.
This landmark case highlights the growing number of civil lawsuits in which survivors are turning to the courts for justice, particularly when criminal charges are not pursued. The outcome reinforces that accountability can still be achieved through the civil legal system.
