“The Trump administration has made sweeping moves on immigration enforcement, arresting 113,000 migrants and deporting over 100,000 since January. This marks one of the most aggressive crackdowns in recent history. ICE and CBP have led nationwide raids to detain undocumented migrants, suspected gang members, and individuals flagged as security threats.

President Trump declared a border emergency on his first day back in office, sending thousands of troops to the U.S.-Mexico border and reinstating strict asylum policies. His administration has also used the 18th-century Alien Enemies Act to deport Venezuelan gang members without trial, a decision that has sparked legal battles. Despite a federal judge’s ruling to block the measure, Trump officials have continued removals, with 17 suspected gang members recently transferred to a notorious El Salvador prison. Illegal crossings have plummeted, dropping by 94% compared to last March. DHS sources attribute the decline to stricter enforcement and increased consequences for unauthorized entry.

“Illegal entries into the United States are no longer a backdoor way to getting status,” a DHS official stated.

The administration is now seeking additional funding to expand detention facilities as ICE has reached its capacity. Reports indicate that many deported individuals have been sent to Mexico, but officials have not disclosed full details on detainees’ backgrounds. If the trend continues, the U.S. could see illegal migration rates reach their lowest point since 1968.

Trump’s immigration policies remain a focal point of debate, with supporters calling them necessary for national security while opponents argue they violate human rights. As the administration pushes forward, the impact of these policies will continue to unfold.

Meanwhile, border agents report that most illegal crossings now occur in the San Diego and El Paso sectors. Officials claim the fear of detention and deportation is discouraging migrants from attempting to cross unlawfully.
