Ice Spice Reacts As “Y2K!” Makes Top 20 Debut Despite Mediocre First-Week Sales

Ice Spice celebrates “Y2K!” debuting at No. 18 on Billboard 200 despite modest first-week sales.

New Bronx rapper Ice Spice is pleased with the first week of her debut album, “Y2K!” Chart Data reported on August 5 that “Y2K!” debuted at No. 18 on the Billboard 200 with 28,000 AEC. Ice Spice considers this a big win despite missing a top 10 debut.

Ice Spice posted the news on X (previously Twitter) and likened it to her last release. “Like..? Thanks to everyone who backed me when I raised 15k and to all my new supporters “she stated with a heart emoji. She said, “Y2K! WORLD TOUR been so fun that these numbers are cool and all but bitch u should of seen that Boston CROWD last night [fire emoji] NYC TOMORROW.”

“What I said in those texts was just in a moment of frustration around contract negotiations. I could have chosen different words,” Ice Spice admitted.

Ice Spice celebrated the near-double sales of “Y2K!” after her debut EP, “Like..?”, sold 15,000 first-week copies. Sales rise, indicating a growing fan base and positive response to her new music. Her passion for touring demonstrates her dedication to interacting with people and creating memorable shows.

In other news, Ice Spice revealed her friendship with Nicki Minaj. Ice Spice told Rolling Stone on July 25 that she and Minaj are not friends but have an excellent business relationship. It’s not our closest relationship. She told Rolling Stone, “We’re good. We’re mutual. We smashed records. Love us together. I think the world does.”

Ice Spice tackled the topic over leaked text texts earlier this year. She complained about their “Barbie World” commercial operations in these communications. Regarding the event, she added, “I was frustrated about contract negotiations when I sent those texts. I may have used different terms. Even if I felt differently in that moment, I still respect [Nicki] as an artist and will always enjoy her work for me and the society.”

On May 3, aspiring singer and rapper Baby Storme released screenshots of a chat she allegedly had with Ice Spice. Ice Spice corroborated the Nicki Minaj criticisms but regretted her language. “Minaj is ‘like her mum, ungrateful and delusional,'” said one text. Ice Spice apparently received the Barbie soundtrack proposal and sought Minaj for a cooperation.

Despite these conflicts, Ice Spice said she still values Minaj and her contributions to their collaborations and the rap industry. This courteous attitude highlights the complexity of music industry relationships, which may be difficult.

“I wrote the texts in frustration during contract negotiations. Ice Spice confessed she might have used alternative words, expressing appreciation for Nicki Minaj despite the incident.

Ice Spice’s persistence and drive allow her to overcome these obstacles and make successful music. Her enthusiastic attitude towards “Y2K!” and her tour displays her commitment to progress and audience connection. As her rap career rises, fans await her next move.
