Gunna’s lawyer, Steven Sadow, has officially addressed rumors that the rapper cooperated with authorities in Young Thug’s YSL RICO case. The controversy erupted after Thug shared a snippet of a new song featuring the line, “Never associate with a rat.” Fans quickly linked the lyric to Gunna, reigniting snitching allegations.
Sadow took to social media to defend his former client.
“Gunna did NOT cooperate, and did NOTHING to harm Young Thug’s case,” he stated.
The lawyer explained that Gunna’s Alford plea in 2022 was independent of Thug’s trial and had no bearing on its outcome. “He was never named as a witness, and his plea couldn’t be used in Thug’s trial,” Sadow added.
According to Sadow, Gunna’s plea resulted in a five-year suspended sentence with no probation or restrictions. This outcome allowed Gunna to resume his career, earning widespread acclaim and millions of dollars. “While Thug faced legal challenges, Gunna focused on his music and achieved international fame,” Sadow emphasized.
Despite the drama, some fans remain skeptical. A few pointed out inconsistencies between Gunna and Thug’s public statements. Meanwhile, others questioned why Thug, who reportedly asked to collaborate with Gunna after his release, would allude to rats in his music.
The situation highlights the ongoing tension within YSL and the broader hip-hop community. Many fans hope for reconciliation between Gunna and Thug. However, Sadow’s statement firmly rejects the notion that Gunna betrayed his former mentor.
