Texas Governor Greg Abbott has responded to Rep. Jasmine Crockett after she mocked his use of a wheelchair. Crockett, speaking at a Human Rights Campaign event, called Abbott “Governor Hot Wheels.” Her remarks triggered immediate backlash.
Abbott dismissed the insult during an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity.
“It’s another day and another disaster by the Democrats. The reality is they have no vision, no policy. They have nothing to sell but hate, and Americans are not buying it,” Abbott said. “It’s one reason why Texas is going to remain red.”
Crockett later claimed her comments were not about Abbott’s disability. She argued she was referring to his policies on migrant transportation. “I wasn’t thinking about the governor’s condition — I was thinking about the planes, trains, and automobiles he used to transfer migrants into communities led by Black mayors,” she wrote on X.
Republicans are pushing back against Crockett’s remarks. Rep. Randy Weber has introduced a resolution to censure her. The resolution calls her comments “unbecoming of a Member of Congress” and “discriminatory in nature.” It also cites previous controversial statements, including her attack on Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s appearance. For more updates check our Youtube channel.
Crockett’s chief of staff has confirmed that she is aware of the censure effort. However, she has not released an official statement.
Despite the controversy, Abbott remains focused on his policies. He continues to push back against criticism while maintaining his strong Republican stance in Texas politics.
