Beyoncé made history once again at the 2025 Grammy Awards, taking home the prestigious Album of the Year after multiple past nominations. The music icon’s long-overdue win was met with excitement and support from fellow artists, including rapper GloRilla, who enthusiastically celebrated her victory. However, not everyone was impressed TV personality Tokyo Toni took to Instagram to express her dissatisfaction with both Beyoncé’s acceptance speech and GloRilla’s reaction, sparking an unexpected online feud.
Tokyo Toni, known for her outspoken nature, wasted no time throwing shade at GloRilla. She insulted the rapper’s appearance directly, stating,
“Gorilla. ‘Cause ain’t nothing glowing about you, little one. Two feet tall… looking like a ten-year-old boy. Jumping up and down for a b*tch like that.”
She also accused GloRilla of “clout chasing,” implying that her excitement over Beyoncé’s win was exaggerated for attention. “They gotta do it,” she continued. “She not gonna do that for you.”
GloRilla wasn’t about to let the comments slide. She swiftly clapped back in the comment section, firing back with, “Somebody call animal control,” a clear jab at Tokyo Toni.
Despite the online drama, GloRilla has always been vocal about her admiration for Beyoncé. She previously shared details of her first encounter with the singer during an appearance on The Pivot Podcast, recalling how nervous she was when she met her at a past Grammy ceremony. “I was like, ‘Oh sh*t!’ I was kinda scared,” she admitted. Beyoncé welcomed her into her dressing room, and GloRilla described the experience as surreal. “She always be so nice to me. I feel like she love me just as much as I love her.”
While the online spat dominated headlines, GloRilla had plenty of reasons to celebrate. Beyoncé made history, becoming the first Black woman to win Best Country Album and also taking home Best Country Duo/Group Performance. With three more Grammys added to her collection, she further cemented her place as the most awarded artist in Grammy history, surpassing conductor Sir Georg Solti’s long-standing record.
