Fantasia Barrino is claiming that her Airbnb host is engaging in “racial profiling.” Barrino is presently starring in the remake of the 1985 movie “The Color Purple.”
“As I ride back to my home in the cold and rain this morning, my stomach is so uneasy,”
39-year-old Barrino said on X (previously Twitter) on Sunday.
“I don’t say much when people wrong me, but I can’t keep quiet about the way a host @Airbnb @airbnbhelp treated my family and me, trying to kick us out at midnight.”
As to the “American Idol” alum, they were accused by the host of throwing a noisy party outside due to the sight of balloons being dropped and a gaming truck without a generator in the early hours of the day.
The vocalist clarified that neither the website nor any other guests were brought into the property, nor was it implied that they “weren’t allowed to have any company over.”
“There were weights with balloon ribbons left in the garage from a previous party at the house. It’s evident from the sayings on the wall to the outdoor fire pit/jacuzzi and a well-equipped game room in the garage/poker table that people host parties and/or gatherings here on the lake often,” the “Lose To Win” singer continued.
Barrino said, “It’s obvious to me that this was racial profiling and the treatment we received was due to the color of our skin.” “I wanted my son to feel special and enjoy his friends who are 10 to 12 years old since I have been traveling for the past 35+ days to promote a movie in which I starred.” I won’t be silent this time.
Later, in response to the singer’s tweet, Airbnb’s assistance account said that the firm “does not condone discrimination in any way” and that they will look into the claim. They also requested Barrino’s email so they could correspond with her further.
The Post requested further information from Barrino and Airbnb.
Barrino said that on the first night of their visit, she and the children were ordered to leave the residence.
Next to a carousel of images of the kids, Barrino posted on Instagram, “Being abruptly asked to vacate a house (which proved to not be a Home) on the first night while a diverse group of technologically & robotically inclined group of kids (one is a pianist) were winding down to sleep was unthinkable.”
“While we were being screened on multiple Ring cameras, the happiness and ‘character’ of the kids present also wasn’t taken into consideration. Gaining an understanding wasn’t the desire,” she went on. “We were asked to leave immediately following a hot chocolate Sip & Paint without any prior notice.”
The actress claims that after making sure the property was clean and organized, the gang packed up their four cars around six in the morning and departed.
Barrino said, “Logistically, some of the kids had to be taken home right away, and one of them said they didn’t want to go home.” “I didn’t deserve to feel or appear as though I failed my son and the other children.”
