Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union Throw Princess-Themed Party for Daughter Kaavia’s 5th Birthday. Kaavia, the couple’s daughter, was born using surrogacy in 2018.

Over the weekend, the family celebrated the little one’s 5th birthday with a princess-themed party that included not one, not two, but three clothing changes from the birthday girl, each time changing into a garment that matched a different Disney princess that was there.

As Kaavia and her friends danced amid the performers costumed as Belle, Tiana, and Ariel, they sang “Happy Birthday” and other songs.

The Bring It On actress, 51, provided her own perspective on the celebration as she mused on their growing daughter.

“On November 7, 2018, our dream came true when our princess @kaaviajames was born.” I can’t believe she’s almost five years old! “She is pure light and love, bringing joy to everyone she meets,” she wrote.

“She enjoys singing, dancing, playing Barbies, and spending time with her best friends!!” Sometimes she acts like a roast comedian, and other times we find her silently praying (Kaav adores the Lord). She genuinely is one of a kind and the nicest thing that has ever happened to me.”

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY Kaavia James Union Wade-Shady Baby-Auntie Baby ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️,” Union went on to say.

Union and Wade had their first child, Kaavia, in November 2018. Wade’s children, Zaire, 21, and Zaya, 16, are shared with ex-wife Siovaughn Funches, and Xavier, 9, is shared with Aja Metoyer.

In an earlier October Instagram video, the actress said that she “became a mom at the right time” and that she was able to “heal” from prior traumas and not pass them on her daughter Kaavia.

“Everyone always asks, ‘Is it worth it?'” Having a child later in life? “There’s a lot that goes into that answer,” Union stated in the video while applying cream in a dressing room. “But in a nutshell: hell yeah, it’s been worth it.”

“It’s changed my life in so many wonderful ways that I wish I’d done it sooner just so I could spend more time with Kaav.” “I even have more time as a mother,” Union said.

Wade praised his family in his remarks receiving the Hall of Fame plaque in August, saying, “for being there for me and loving me in the most perfect way possible.”

“I appreciate you guys and I love y’all,” he remarked of his loved ones in attendance before addressing his wife individually, saying, “And my wife Gab, would you please stand.” Thank you for making our house seem like a home.”

“Thank you for making our kids feel seen, heard, and safe when I’m not there.” Thank you for memorizing every NBA ref’s name and yelling at them so I didn’t have to – you saved me a lot of fine money,” the player joked.

“I know I’ll be traveling for work during our anniversary this year, so I just wanted to say thank you for being on this journey with me for the past 15 years.” Thank you for learning to embrace my flaws as much as we cherished and adored our moments of perfection. “I adore you.”
