Drake is wasting no time getting back into the booth. Just weeks after collaborating with PARTYNEXTDOOR on the February release $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, the Toronto rapper revealed he’s already hard at work on his next solo project. The news broke during a relaxed livestream with popular streamer Adin Ross on Stake this past Sunday (April 13), where Drake casually dropped the exciting update.
“I’m working on a new album right now,” he told viewers, confidently labeling it “a slap,” a term fans know signals strong vibes and infectious tracks.
He emphasized that the upcoming album will be entirely solo—no guest features, just Drake doing what he does best.
As the stream continued, the conversation took a turn toward celebrity boxing—a trend that’s seen several stars stepping into the ring for publicity-driven matches. When asked if he’d ever consider fighting another celebrity, Drake shut down the idea with a quick and firm “no,” clearly unimpressed by the thought. Still, he couldn’t resist adding a cryptic jab. When Ross teased that Kendrick Lamar might be a potential opponent, Drake responded with a smirk, “If there’s a fight, it’s happening at Hino’s gym—no cameras, just garage doors.”
This subtle shot sparked buzz online, especially given the long-standing tension between the two rap giants. Earlier this year, West Coast rapper Glasses Malone stirred the pot by claiming Kendrick might actually want to fight Drake, citing past incidents and Kendrick’s fiery personality. “He holds onto everything,” Malone said. “He’s not as calm as people think.”
Social media figure DJ Akademiks also weighed in, controversially stating that Drake wouldn’t back down from a physical clash.
For now, Kendrick remains silent. But while fans speculate, one thing is certain—Drake’s next solo album is on the horizon and already building serious hype.
