Drake & PartyNextDoor SHOCK the Industry, Dethrone Kendrick Lamar from No. 1 on Billboard

Drake is making major waves in the rap arena as his collaborative album with PartyNextDoor, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U claims the top spot on the Billboard 200. In a stunning twist in his long running rivalry with Kendrick Lamar the Canadian superstar’s project has dethroned Lamar’s album GNX, which had briefly held the No. 1 position following a buzzworthy Super Bowl performance.

According to Luminate  $ome $exy $ongs 4 U amassed approximately 46,000 album equivalent units in its debut week in the United States.

This strong performance not only secures PartyNextDoor’s first-ever No. 1 album but also marks Drake’s 14th chart-topper. With this achievement Drake now ties with icons like Jay-Z and Taylor Swift for the most solo artist No. 1 albums, trailing only behind The Beatles, who hold a record 19 No. 1 albums.

Adding to his accolades, Drake and PartyNextDoor broke records for the largest streaming week of any album this year, with total streams reaching an impressive 287.04 million. Although Kendrick Lamar’s GNX recorded a higher streaming debut last December, the current streaming numbers for $ome $exy $ongs 4 U underscore Drake’s formidable digital presence and market appeal.

Meanwhile the competitive spirit on the charts continues as pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter sees her deluxe edition of Short n’ Sweet climb back to No. 2. Carpenter’s expanded album, released on February 14, includes five new tracks among them a remix featuring country legend Dolly Parton that have helped reenergize her fan base.

As Drake and Kendrick Lamar continue to duel for chart supremacy, the Billboard 200 stands as a battleground for musical innovation and commercial success. With streaming records being shattered and long-established icons being challenged by new releases, the current musical landscape is as competitive and dynamic as ever leaving fans and industry experts eager to see what these major players will deliver next.
