Drake has lost $20k on the National Basketball Championship bet despite betting on the winning team after UConn Huskies beat San Diego State 76-59.
Drake placed two bets on UConn winning the championship: one worth $250,000 on the Huskies winning by a margin of 6-10 points, and another bet worth $100,000 on the Huskies winning by 11 points plus. So, while the first bet did not work out well for him, the second smaller bet did as the Huskies eventually beat San Diego State by a margin of 17 points.
The first bet would have got Drake a return of $1.085 million, while the second one, which he eventually won as the Huskies cruised to a thumping win by 17 points only got the Toronto-native rapper $230,000, thus leaving him with a loss of $20,000, despite placing bets on the winning team.
Drake is a notorious sporting better and often bets on UFC Mix Martial Arts games, basketball, and baseball.
In December, Drake placed a $1 million bet on Argentina to beat France in normal time. The Messi-led South American side did win the world cup but by a cliffhanger extra-time penalty shoot-out finish. In the Super Bowl in February, Drake won only one of his seven bets.
