Doocy Inquires About White House Concerns Over Biden’s campaign; KJP Declines to Respond. Doocy first asked Jean-Pierre if the White House was in “full-blown freak-out mode” over Biden’s poor polling and reelection chances, citing a POLITICO article titled “Dems in full-blown ‘freakout’ over Biden.” Jean-Pierre appeared unaware of the article and evaded the question, instead highlighting Biden’s compassion for the American people.

“There’s a — there’s a –“ Doocy began, before Jean-Pierre admonished, “Peter –”

Doocy continued, “– POLITICO story. It sounds like Democrats, outside –” then continued by quoting POLITICO, saying Biden’s stubbornly poor polling and the stakes of the election “are creating the freakout,” according to a Democratic operative.

Jean-Pierre evaded the question, saying, “So again, I’m really mindful — I’m not going to comment on 2024 election,” then veered into speaking of Biden’s supposed compassion for the American people, saying, “I will say this — uh — the President has never forgotten where he comes — where he came from, who he is. He understands what the American people are going through as they’re sitting around the kitchen table.”

Doocy then asked about a private meeting between Biden and Hallie Biden, a key government witness in Hunter Biden’s federal trial. “On another topic, why did President Biden have a private meeting with a witness who plans to testify in court against his son?” Jean-Pierre requested more information before responding, “Can you say more?”

Doocy elaborated, “Hallie Biden is a key government witness who allegedly disposed of a gun that Hunter is accused of buying…”

“A pervasive sense of fear has settled in at the highest levels of the Democratic Party over President Joe Biden’s reelection prospects, even among officeholders and strategists who had previously expressed confidence about the coming battle with Donald Trump. … nearly five months from the election, anxiety has morphed into palpable trepidation, according to more than a dozen party leaders and operatives. And the gap between what Democrats will say on TV or in print, and what they’ll text their friends, has only grown as worries have surged about Biden’s prospects.”

The article noted that former President Trump, “despite everything,” “is running ahead of Biden in most battleground states. He raised far more money in April, and the landscape may only become worse for Democrats, with Trump’s hush-money trial concluding and another — this one involving the president’s son — set to begin in Delaware.”

“One adviser to major Democratic Party donors provided a running list that has been shared with funders of nearly two dozen reasons why Biden could lose,” the article noted. The adviser stated, “The list of why we ‘could’ win is so small I don’t even need to keep the list on my phone.” Veteran Democratic strategist Pete Giangreco told POLITICO, “If the frame of this race is, ‘What was better, the 3.5 years under Biden or four years under Trump,’ we lose that every day of the week and twice on Sunday.”

The exchange between Doocy and Jean-Pierre highlights the growing concern among Democrats about Biden’s reelection prospects and the potential impact of Hunter Biden’s trial on the election. The POLITICO article reveals a sense of fear and anxiety among top Democrats, with many expressing worry about Biden’s poor polling and Trump’s lead in battleground states. The article also mentions a list of nearly two dozen reasons why Biden could lose, compiled by an adviser to major Democratic donors.
