Diddy Apologizes for Assaulting Ex-Girlfriend Cassie Following Release of CCTV Footage. Music mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has publicly apologized for assaulting his ex-girlfriend, singer Cassie, after CCTV footage of the incident surfaced online. The video, released by CNN, shows Combs attacking Cassie in a Los Angeles hotel hallway in March 2016. This revelation has brought to light a dark chapter in the lives of both individuals and sparked widespread discussion on social media.
In a heartfelt video shared with his 20 million Instagram followers, the 54-year-old Combs expressed deep remorse for his actions.
“It’s so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you gotta do that. I was f-cked up. I hit rock bottom, but I make no excuses. My behavior on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I’m disgusted. I was disgusted then when I did it, and I’m disgusted now,” he stated.
Combs continued, explaining that he sought professional help following the incident. “I went and I sought out professional help. I had to go into therapy, rehab. Had to ask God for his mercy and grace. I’m so sorry. But I’m committe⁸d to be a better man each and every day. I’m not asking for forgiveness. I’m truly sorry,” he added. The video post was simply captioned, “I’m truly sorry.”
The CCTV footage, which has caused a media frenzy, shows Combs running down a hotel corridor wearing only a white towel and assaulting Cassie, who appears to be waiting for an elevator, seemingly trying to leave. The video depicts Combs throwing her to the floor and kicking her.
This incident adds to a series of troubling allegations against Combs. In March, Homeland Security raided his homes in Los Angeles and Miami as part of an investigation into allegations of physical and sexual violence. These allegations have cast a long shadow over the music mogul’s career and personal life.
The resurfaced incident closely mirrors descriptions in a lawsuit filed by Cassie, born Casandra Ventura, in November 2023. In the Federal District Court in Manhattan, Ventura accused Combs of physically and sexually abusing her for years during their relationship. The lawsuit was filed under New York’s Adult Survivors Act, which allowed accusers to file lawsuits even after the statute of limitations had passed.
Court documents reveal that the abuse began shortly after Diddy Combs and Ventura met in 2005, when she was 19 and he was 37. The two were involved in an on-off relationship from 2007 until about 2018. Ventura’s lawsuit included detailed accounts of multiple incidents of abuse, including the one depicted in the CCTV footage.
Remarkably, Cassie and Diddy Combs reached a settlement just one day after she filed the lawsuit. In a statement distributed by her attorney Douglas Wigdor, Ventura expressed her decision to resolve the matter on her terms. “I have decided to resolve this matter amicably on terms that I have some level of control. I want to thank my family, fans, and lawyers for their unwavering support,” she said.
Combs also confirmed the settlement in a statement, saying, “We have decided to resolve this matter amicably. I wish Cassie and her family all the best. Love.”
In an additional statement, Combs’ lawyer Benjamin Brafman clarified that settling the lawsuit does not constitute an admission of wrongdoing. ”
This high-profile case has highlighted issues of domestic violence and abuse within relationships, sparking conversations about the importance of seeking help and support. If you or someone you know has been the victim of sexual assault, dont stay quiet and ask for help.
