Darius Jackson Counters Allegations, Claims Keke Palmer Was Physically Abusive

In a surprising turn of events, Darius Jackson, former NFL player, has launched a counterclaim against ex-girlfriend Keke Palmer, asserting that she was the primary aggressor and engaged in abusive behavior during their two-year relationship. This follows Palmer’s November domestic violence allegations against Jackson.

To oppose Palmer’s temporary restraining order, Jackson, 29, filed the counterclaim in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Friday. The former football player said Palmer “repeatedly engaged in abusive conduct” and was the main aggressor in several confrontations from August 2021 to March 2023. The couple shares a 9-month-old son, Leodis Andrellton.

Among the allegations, Jackson stated that Palmer was verbally and physically abusive, especially when she consumed alcohol. The incidents cited include Palmer allegedly punching Jackson in the face at a birthday party in August 2021, damaging his car windshield in January 2022, and physically attacking him through choking and hitting in her Los Angeles home in February 2022.

The counterclaim also highlighted a recent incident on March 12, where Palmer reportedly blamed Jackson for a malfunctioning shower drain, leading to water overflow. Jackson claimed that Palmer, who had been drinking, became verbally abusive, using multiple expletives. Jackson asserted that he attempted to de-escalate the situation, but Palmer’s rage intensified.

Notably, Palmer was granted a restraining order against Jackson on November 9, with temporary custody over their son. Her request stemmed from an alleged incident on November 5 when Jackson allegedly trespassed into Palmer’s home, threatened her, and physically attacked her. Palmer’s court documents included screenshots of surveillance video showing the alleged trespassing.

In response to Palmer’s version of events on November 5, Jackson offered his perspective, stating that Palmer refused to disclose their son’s whereabouts during a phone call with her mother. Jackson claimed that Palmer’s mother, Sharon, directed threats and profanities at him. Palmer, on the other hand, accused Jackson of lunging at her, grabbing her neck and face after she asked him to leave her home

The counterclaim delved into a February 2022 incident where Palmer accused Jackson of becoming violently jealous over a bikini picture. Jackson contended that Palmer berated him, fearing she would attack him again. He claimed that Palmer tried to stop him from leaving, ripping his shirt off, and following him down the stairs, while Palmer alleged that Jackson grabbed and slammed her onto the stairs.

Jackson supported his counterclaim with screenshots of text and email exchanges with Palmer, an online transfer of $600 “for windshield” allegedly from Palmer, and a transcript of Palmer’s call with her mother on the day of the November 5 dispute.

Jackson says he wants shared legal and physical custody of their son and to deny Palmer’s domestic violence restraining order. Stay-away and no-contact orders and Palmer’s legal fees are also sought.

The couple, who began dating in June 2021, ended their relationship in October amid public scrutiny of Jackson’s comments about Palmer’s appearance at an Usher concert. Jackson’s unsolicited opinions on social media sparked backlash, with accusations of attempting to control Palmer’s choices.

A hearing regarding Palmer’s restraining order is scheduled for January 9.
