Popular radio host Charlamagne tha God has dismissed President-elect Donald Trump’s recent sentencing in New York as “pure political theater” and a futile endeavor. The sentencing, delivered by Judge Juan Merchan, came after Trump was found guilty of falsifying business records in a case stemming from Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s long-running investigation.

On Friday, Trump received an unconditional discharge, meaning he will face no jail time or fines despite being the first U.S. President to become a convicted felon. The ruling also allows Trump the option to appeal the conviction. Charlamagne, co-host of The Breakfast Club, shared his candid thoughts during Monday’s show, where he criticized the entire proceeding.

“What a waste of time,” Charlamagne said. “Pure political theater. They were never going to convict a former or sitting president of anything meaningful. Liberals are out here celebrating, but this is not a win. Who cares if you can call him a convicted felon when he still has a real shot at being president again?”

He went on to call the trial a fruitless exercise. “They’re not going to do anything to him. It’s foolishness,” he added. Co-host DJ Envy highlighted the financial burden of the case, pointing out the high costs associated with security measures. “In the New York case, they said it cost $50,000 a day. The total cost is probably around $2 million,” Envy noted. For more check our youtube channel.

Charlamagne questioned the motives of prosecutors, including Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, who is pursuing similar charges against Trump in Georgia. “What’s the point? What are you trying to prove?” he asked.

Trump, maintaining his innocence, called the trial a “political witch hunt” and described it as a setback for New York’s judicial system. He was convicted last May on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records but pleaded not guilty. He characterized the trial as “rigged” and “disgraceful.”

The Supreme Court previously denied Trump’s petition to block sentencing. Earlier this year, it upheld that presidents are immune from prosecution for official acts, further fueling debates on the limits of presidential accountability.
