Case Dismissed: Jay-Z & Diddy Cleared as Accuser Drops Rape Lawsuit

Hip-hop moguls Jay-Z and Sean “DiddyCombs are no longer facing legal accusations of sexual assault after a lawsuit alleging they raped a 13-year-old girl in 2000 was officially dismissed. A court filing made on Friday in New York federal court confirmed the abrupt withdrawal of the case, marking a significant development in the highly publicized legal battle.

The lawyer representing the anonymous accuser, Jane Doe, moved to dismiss the case “with prejudice, which means it cannot be refiled in the future. The court documents did not specify the reasons behind the sudden dismissal, leaving many questions unanswered.

Following the news, Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, took to social media platform X to denounce the lawsuit, calling it “frivolous, fictitious, and appalling.”

He stated, “This civil suit was without merit and never going anywhere. The fictional tale they created was laughable, if not for the seriousness of the claims.”

Likewise, Combs released his own statement, declaring the lawsuit’s dismissal as proof that the allegations were false. He criticized his accusers for hiding behind anonymity and accused their attorney of seeking media attention rather than pursuing legitimate legal action.

The lawsuit, initially filed in October 2023, alleged that the rap icons assaulted an underage girl at a house party following the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards in New York City. The plaintiff was represented by attorney Tony Buzbee, who has been leading multiple sexual assault lawsuits against Combs.

Buzbee has declined to comment on the sudden dismissal.

Although Jay-Z is no longer entangled in the lawsuit, Combs still faces numerous legal battles, including several sexual assault allegations across the country. He remains in custody, awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking and racketeering charges, casting a shadow over his once-dominant career in the music industry.
