‘The Color Purple’ creator Boosie has said that he left the show due to the lesbian storyline. “The person who wrote the script is exerting much effort on the narrative.”
The rapper, who was born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, came under criticism when he disclosed that he had left a viewing of the film, saying that the scriptwriters were attempting to promote an LGBTQ storyline.
On Tuesday, January 2, he responded to the criticism by posting a message on X, in which he claimed that he was being bullied because of his stance.
Boosie started by asking, “Why do you all say that the person who doesn’t agree is the one who is being pushed?” if someone does not agree with the story that is being pushed.
“That is bullying, and as parents, we have the right to say that it is not cool for a child who is seven or nine years old to watch that.” As parents, we have the responsibility to safeguard our children to the greatest extent possible.
Boosie continued, continuing to stress that he does not have “any problem at all with people.” After that, he went on to state that his grandfather was a Southern Baptist preacher, and that he intends to instill “the same beliefs and respect” in his children as he had while he was growing up. He went on to say, “It is just that this world will have you in a fight to do so.”
Following his first critique of the film, which was comprised of the phrase “it seemed like a [rainbow flag emoji] love story,” users on social media pointed out that the plot of the film is derived from Alice Walker’s book The Color Purple, which was published in 1982.
Users on social media platforms react to Boosie’s interpretation of “The Color Purple.”
On the other hand, his subsequent post could have improved the situation. An extensive message was published on Instagram by Ts Madison, who is a pioneering producer and a transgender actor. She was perplexed as to why Boosie felt uncomfortable with the lesbian connection shown in the film rather than with other plots and images that were more terrifying.
A comparison was made by Madison between Boosie and the individuals in the film who were abusive, and she said that Boosie needs an “intervention” in order to “sort out these homosexual demons you’re fighting.”
One member on X uploaded a video of Boosie proudly disclosing that he paid sex workers to perform oral sex on his kids and nephews, who were 12 and 13 years old. Other users pointed out that one of Boosie’s children is a lesbian.
