Actor Columbus Short Apologizes for Remarks about Black Women

Actor Columbus Short has apologized after implying on The Unqualified AF podcast that Black women are un trainable and do not respect Black men.

In his apology, he said, “I realize that I seriously offended Black women. My response was too long and intense. I should have been smarter. I was talking about the younger generation on social media and their sense of entitlement.” He added, “It was more complex than my answer suggested. I am truly sorry if I hurt anyone. Sometimes my opinions are better left unsaid.”

During his controversial comments, short stated, “Many Black women don’t respect Black men, partly because many were raised without fathers. It’s different in other cultures, like Mexican, Korean, or Japanese, where women are taught to support their men, even while being strong and assertive. I’m not saying all Black women are like this.”

He continued, “This kind of upbringing creates a different dynamic.”

Columbus Short, 41, is known for his roles in films such as Cadillac Records, Stomp the Yard, You Got Served, and War of the Worlds. He has a history of domestic abuse and was once romantically linked to Britney Spears.

His current wife, Aida Abramyan, is Armenian. On The Unqualified AF podcast, he also discussed how the division of Black families was exacerbated during J. Edgar Hoover’s tenure at the FBI, citing the introduction of crack and guns into Black communities to dismantle the Black Panther movement.

He noted that during slavery, removing men from homes was a tactic to control and emasculate Black families. The discussion then touched on how women from other races were taught to be supportive and submissive to their men.

The conversation then continued with the actor and Farideh talking about how women of other races women were taught to be submissive and subservient to their men.
