A$AP Rocky’s longtime friend and collaborator, A$AP Twelvyy, testified in a Los Angeles court on Friday that the rapper did not fire a real weapon during a 2021 street altercation but instead used a starter pistol as a prop. His statement is crucial to Rocky’s defense against two felony assault charges, which could lead to a 24-year prison sentence.
“He walked around with a prop, like a starter pistol,” Twelvyy told the jury, insisting that Rocky’s accuser, A$AP Relli, was aware the gun wasn’t real when it was pulled out.
According to Twelvyy, Rocky only fired the starter pistol to deter Relli from attacking another crew member, A$AP Illz. For more updates check our Youtube channel.
Prosecutor John Lewin questioned the credibility of this claim, asking how a known fake gun could serve as a deterrent. Twelvyy responded that the loud sound alone could create the illusion of real gunfire, causing someone to back off.
Rocky’s partner, pop icon Rihanna, was also present in court. For the first time, the couple left the courthouse together, drawing media attention.
Twelvyy, who has worked closely with Rocky and appeared in his music videos, testified that he had seen Rocky with the prop gun multiple times, including at a Harlem block party and a music video shoot before the Los Angeles incident. He explained that Rocky, lacking security during the pandemic, used the prop as a form of self-protection.
The case has been controversial, especially since authorities never recovered the alleged firearm. Relli, who claims his knuckles were grazed by a bullet, brought shell casings to the police two days after the incident.
Dismissing claims that he was testifying to help Rocky, Twelvyy insisted, “I was actually there. I know the truth.”
