SZA muses on her ‘childish’ affair with Drake as ‘Slime You Out’ hits stores

A song that Drake released in the year 2020 addressed the fact that he and SZA only dated briefly and mentioned it in the lyrics.

SZA is famously private about the specifics of her personal relationships; however, she revealed some lovely recollections from when she “dated” Drake in the 2000s. Drake was a prominent figure in the music industry at the time.

The Kill Bill singer fondly recalled her short and “childish” romance with the rapper in an interview with Rolling Stone for the cover story published on Tuesday.

“We were young,” the singer, now 33 years old, remarked of her love from 14 years ago when asked about their age difference. “We were in our early twenties.”

It was neither hot nor heavy nor anything else that might be considered in the same category. It made one feel as if they were back in their younger years. She couldn’t help but snicker to herself at how immature it was.

SZA, who was then 18 years old and dating Drake, who was then 23 years old, in 2009, just at the brink of his breakthrough in the music industry, however, she squashed any “underage” worries by underlining that it was “completely innocent” and that nothing “creepy” was going on during their time together during their time together during their time together. When we last saw Drake, he was on the verge of making major headway in the music business.

However, the world was never made aware of their love connection, and things probably would have stayed that way if Drake hadn’t expressly addressed SZA in the smash hit song Mr. Right Now that he released in 2020.

To divulge the facts, he rapped as follows: “Yeah, said she wanna f**k to some SZA, wait / ‘Cause I used to date SZA back in ’08,” which exposed the relationship between the two of them.

The singer handled the situation with good humour and ridiculed Drake for getting the date wrong despite being very private about her personal life and not wanting to discuss it.

Following the song’s release, she tweeted, “So it was 2009 lol,” expanding on the notion that “it’s all love all peace” between herself and the alumna of Degrassi who previously starred in the show.

In Drake’s newest track, “Slime You Out,” SZA, with whom he has worked on a previous project, lends her vocals.
