The “Real Housewives of Miami” actress stated this week that she was “embarrassed” by the Hall of Famer’s public criticism of her relationship with Marcus Jordan.
“I didn’t think it was funny,” Pippen said on Tuesday’s episode of their podcast, “Separation Anxiety with Larsa Pippen and Marcus Jordan.” “There’s absolutely nothing funny about it.”
“I felt like it went everywhere, and I was kind of, like, embarrassed,” she continued.
Michael Jordan was leaving a restaurant in Paris last week when a paparazzi approached him about his son’s connection with Pippen. Before the photographer went further and inquired if he approved of their relationship, the basketball icon looked to giggle.
“No!” In a TMZ video, Jordan can be heard stating as he gets into a vehicle.
Pippen and Jordan co-host an iHeartRadio podcast.
Marcus Jordan maintained on the new “Separation Anxiety” episode that his father was most likely kidding when he answered to the photographer, and that he had no ill will toward their romance.
“I know my dad,” he explained. “My whole family, the Jordans, we’re all competitive.” It’s in our DNA to spout nonsense. It gets us moving and motivates us.”
The younger Jordan then speculated that his father’s reaction may have been influenced by a few drinks at dinner.
“I didn’t put too much weight into it,” he said. The podcaster went on to add that his father had contacted him to alert him about the interaction and to inform him that Marcus does not want his consent for the connection.
Marcus Jordan and Scottie Pippen made their romance Instagram public in January, causing quite a commotion. Given their ties, many people were taken aback by their romance.
Pippen was married to NBA legend Scottie Pippen for more than 20 years until divorcing in 2021. Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan, a famed NBA tandem during the Chicago Bulls’ reign in the 1990s, have recently come up about their troubled relationship.
Larsa Pippen revealed on “Tamron Hall” in February that her boyfriend’s parents were “fine” with their relationship and that all they wanted was for their son to be happy.
On Tuesday’s edition of her podcast, she sang a slightly different melody.
She stated that, while their relationship did not result in a “bad situation” for their families, it did have a “shock value” when they declared their affair.
“It’s not ideal for Larsa to be with Marcus, or Marcus to be with Larsa,” she stated, adding that “our families would’ve preferred us not to be together at first.”
Later, Pippen admitted that her connection with Marcus is “probably awkward” for Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen. She then expressed her fear that others could have assumed she was lying when she earlier stated that their families were content with their relationship.
“Oh my gosh, I was, like, traumatized,” Pippen recalled of Michael Jordan’s reaction to cameras last week. “‘Oh my God, what are we going to do?'” People believe I lied.'”
