Memphis-born rapper NLE says his two-year-old daughter Clover saved him from suicidal thoughts. In a heartfelt Instagram post, the rapper credited his daughter for changing his life.
“Clover literally changed my life,”NLE Choppa said in an open letter addressed to his daughter, “‘Cause I knew longevity in my life was needed to be in yours. So thank you, Clover, for maturing me faster than anything that’s ever happened to me in life. You are the reason I want better. You are the reason I love. You are the reason I live.”
The rapper who has had a history of mental health challenges opened up about his inner struggle.
“Before you [were] here, I was contemplating suicide. When I found out you were conceiv[ed], you gave me something to not only look forward to but something to live for! Thank you for saving my life, my little goddess. I’m forever in debt to you. I owe it all to you. You’re the reason I’m still here, ” the open letter continues.
In December 2020, he posted some disturbing suicidal thoughts on his social media account.
“Imma Kill Myself The Last Day Of December 2020 Y’all Better Enjoy Me While Y’all Can,” Choppa Said. “My Music Gone Live For Me Imma Be With Y’all. I Promise… My Music Gone Let You Know Every Thing You Need To Know, love y’all.”
Choppa also released a song titled “Love Letter to My Daughter in 2021.
“Baby girl, you blessed because I know some kids in group home/ Ain’t seen you sincе the week that you was born, miss you in my arms/ Mom be on some complicatеd shit, so I don’t see you/ She put the police on me, at the end of the day, it hurt you,” the lyrics of the song went.
