Tyrese has been ordered to pay his ex-wife nearly $650,000 by a judge he publicly called out for being “racist.”
The Fast & Furious star attended a court hearing in his custody battle with his ex, Samantha Lee, in Atlanta on Tuesday (April 25), where he was held in contempt of court for failing to pay the $10,000 a month in child support he was ordered to cough up last August.
“He claims Samantha doesn’t need that much, because she makes good money on her own,” TMZ notes. The Fast & Furious actor has also alleged the judge was racist toward him
The judge gave Tyrese until 15 May to pay around $258,000 (£207,000) of the balance.
He told the court Tuesday that his ex is well paid, so he shouldn’t have to stump up so much to support his child.
“Everything will be appealed. My attorney, Tonya Mitchell Graham, stated that at least 30 things beyond the scope of the law was miss handled and flat out egregious and illegal (sic),”
Tyrese said
The 44-year-old exclusively told The Shade Room in a statement that he will be appealed the ruling.
“The family law court system really f***ing sucks. It’s all a process we will appeal.”
Tyrese issued a statement on Instagram admitting he wasn’t surprised by the ruling. He thanked his supporters for showing up to court and called on father’s advocacy groups to help fight for changes in the law.
“I am ready along with a whole lot of other fathers who continue to get f##### over by the family law court system…. “
“I’ve never been the type of man to sit on my hands quietly b#### and moan at home about everything…. I stand UP a and speak UP a and OUT about injustice,” Tyrese stated.
