Rep. Jasmine Crockett shocked many by claiming the U.S. needs migrants because Black Americans are no longer willing to do farming labor. She made the comment during a church event celebrating 125 years of Grace Baptist in Connecticut.
Crockett said she educates people on immigration and argued that immigrants are needed since Americans avoid farming. The audience reacted with an awkward laugh. She pushed further saying Black people are no longer picking cotton and wouldn’t accept plantation work even if paid.

“We done picking cotton,” she declared.

Critics say the remark was racially charged and insulting. This comes after Crockett mocked Governor Abbott by calling him “Governor Hot Wheels.”

The backlash from that comment still echoes across social media. Crockett also took shots at Elon Musk and Ted Cruz. She once said Cruz should be knocked over the head. Her critics say her language promotes division and disrespect. Others claim she’s just bold and unfiltered. Her comments on race and political rivals continue to draw heavy criticism.

Crockett’s words have triggered talk of censure in the House. Some believe her remarks cross the line of professional conduct. While her defenders argue she is speaking hard truths others avoid.

Her most viral line from the church event summed up her views clearly. “We done picking cotton,” she said, as she linked immigration to labor and racial history. This statement is now at the center of a national political firestorm.

Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR have finally dropped their highly anticipated joint album, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, on February 14, 2025. The album, packed with 21 tracks, highlights the dynamic creative chemistry between the two OVO artists.
