Wendy Williams Signs Legal Document To End Guardianship As She Continues To Deny Dementia Diagnosis

Wendy Williams has officially taken legal steps to regain control of her life, signing an affidavit on Wednesday afternoon requesting a judge to terminate her court ordered guardianship. The former talk show host, 60, argues that she has regained her ability to manage her personal and financial affairs without the oversight of her guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, who has been in charge since 2022.

Sources indicate that Williams is set to undergo a re-evaluation by a doctor next Tuesday. Notably, the physician conducting the assessment was selected by Williams’ legal team, whom she hired specifically to help dissolve her guardianship. Following the evaluation, her attorneys plan to file an emergency order in court, urging the judge to reconsider the necessity of the legal arrangement.

If the judge denies her request, Williams’ legal team is prepared to escalate the matter further.

When asked for a statement, one of Williams’ attorneys declined to comment, while another, Jason Atlas, responded that “everyone in the case has Wendy’s best interests at heart, and we all expect that the ultimate outcome will align with those best interests.”

In the film Saving Wendy, Williams provides a sobering look at her current reality, revealing that she has been living in a New York facility, which she describes as more of a “prison” than a home.

In a conversation with Harvey Levin, Williams disclosed, “No, no. I am not allowed to go out. I can call you, but you can’t call me. In the last 30 days, I went out twice.”

Williams has made it clear that she feels trapped by the legal system, firmly asserting, “I want my freedom back.” She also criticized the guardianship arrangement, declaring, “This system has failed from top to bottom regarding this guardian and everybody involved with that.”

With mounting legal efforts and ongoing media attention, Williams’ fight to regain control over her life remains a high-profile and deeply personal battle.
