Kendrick Lamar Wins Early Rap Awards & Best Music Video at 2025 Grammys for “Not Like Us”

Kendrick Lamar continues to solidify his legacy as one of the greatest rappers of all time, adding to his impressive collection of Grammy Awards. The Compton-born artist has now secured 20 Grammy wins, placing him in an elite category alongside hip-hop legends Jay-Z and Ye. This milestone was reached ahead of the main telecast of the 67th Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday, February 2, 2025.

Lamar’s chart topping track “Not Like Us” dominated the rap categories, earning accolades for Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance, and Best Music Video. This latest success reinforces his influence in the music industry, as the track managed to outshine some of the biggest names in the genre.

In the Best Music Video category, Lamar and his co-director, Dave Free of pgLang, triumphed over A$AP Rocky’s “Tailor Swif,” Charli XCX’s “360,” and Eminem’s “Houdini.”

Meanwhile, in the highly competitive Best Rap Song category, “Not Like Us” produced by Mustard and widely recognized as a scathing diss track aimed at Drake emerged victorious. It beat out Rapsody’s “Asteroids,” Ye and Ty Dolla $ign’s “Carnival,” as well as Lamar’s own collaboration with Future and Metro Boomin, “Like That.”

The song also claimed the top spot in the Best Rap Performance category, surpassing strong contenders such as Cardi B’s “Enough,” Doechii’s “Nissan Altima,” GloRilla’s “Yeah Glo!,” Common and Pete Rock’s “Where the Sun Shines Again,” and Eminem’s “Houdini.”

Beyond these wins, Lamar remains a strong contender for even more awards, having been nominated in major categories including Song of the Year and Record of the Year. With a total of seven nominations this year, he could further cement his place in Grammy history by the end of the night.

Looking ahead, Kendrick Lamar is set to take center stage at the Super Bowl halftime show on February 9, 2025. Fans can expect an electrifying performance, especially with special guest SZA joining him for the spectacle.
