Radio host Charlamagne tha God has dismissed Vivek Ramaswamy’s explanation for leaving the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). In a heated exchange on The Breakfast Club, Charlamagne openly questioned whether Ramaswamy was forced out or left because he saw potential failure ahead.
Ramaswamy, who was appointed to co-lead DOGE with Elon Musk under the Trump administration, claimed his departure was due to a “difference in vision.” He explained that while Musk preferred a “technology-first approach,” he wanted to cut unnecessary bureaucracy. According to him, both sides mutually agreed on the decision.
Charlamagne was skeptical. He asked Ramaswamy directly whether he was pushed out because of Trump rolling back diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. Ramaswamy denied this, insisting there was simply a strategic disagreement.
However, Charlamagne did not accept his response.
“I hear you, Vivek. I don’t believe you. I think you either got pushed out or you know that it’s going to implode,” he said.
He went on to say that Ramaswamy might have left before DOGE collapsed. “I think that you know Elon is gon’ crash and burn it, and you’re a smart guy, and you said, ‘You know what, let me get out of Dodge and go do my governor Ohio thing.’”
Ramaswamy maintained that his decision had nothing to do with Musk’s leadership. He also emphasized that he still has a good relationship with Musk and that they remain on friendly terms.
The conversation has fueled speculation about DOGE’s future. Some political analysts believe the agency is struggling under Musk’s leadership. Others think Ramaswamy’s departure signals deeper internal conflicts.
For now, Ramaswamy is shifting his focus to the Ohio governor’s race in 2026. Whether DOGE succeeds or fails, he is moving on to his next political challenge.
