Karine Jean-Pierre bluntly responds to Biden’s potential dementia after disastrous debate. The White House press briefing on Tuesday was dominated by questions about President Biden’s mental and physical health, following his controversial debate performance last week. Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre faced a barrage of inquiries from reporters, all seeking clarity on the president’s well-being.

At the center of the controversy was Jean-Pierre’s categorical denial that President Biden suffers from Alzheimer’s or any form of dementia. Her response came after a reporter asked a yes or no question regarding the president’s health, to which she replied, “No.” This assertion was met with skepticism by many in the press corps, given the president’s stumbling performance during the debate.

The debate itself was widely panned by Democrats and legacy media outlets, with many calling for Biden to drop out of the election due to his age and mental fitness. The White House has dismissed repeated instances of Biden’s gaffes or miscues during public events as “cheap fakes,” despite criticism from the Trump campaign and other allies.

Jean-Pierre doubled down on the “cheap fakes” narrative during the press briefing, stating that the administration has no regrets over promoting the term. She emphasized that independent fact-checkers and misinformation experts have also used the phrase to describe targeted attacks on the president.

However, the Trump campaign has called for an apology over the phrase, arguing that Biden’s debate performance revealed his decline. The campaign alleges a coverup by the White House and Democrat Party, complicit with the mainstream media, to hide Biden’s mental state from the public.

“The Biden White House and entire Democrat Party are both directly implicated in the greatest coverup in U.S. political history – and the mainstream media is complicit in their lies to the American public about Joe Biden’s mental state,” Trump campaign national press secretary Karoline Leavitt told Fox News Digital last week.

The majority of questions during the press briefing focused on Biden’s mental and physical health, with Jean-Pierre assuring that the president is “fighting” for the American people despite acknowledging a poor debate performance. She denied any hiding of information about the president’s health or ability to perform his duties.

“Is anyone in the White House hiding information about the president’s health or his ability to do the job day to day?” one reporter asked Jean-Pierre. “Absolutely not,” she answered.

The press conference came the same day as Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D-Texas) called on Biden to withdraw from the presidential race, marking the first time an elected Democrat official called on the president to bow out.

“President Biden has continued to run substantially behind Democratic senators in key states and in most polls has trailed Donald Trump,” Doggett said. “I had hoped that the debate would provide some momentum to change that. It did not. Instead of reassuring voters, the president failed to effectively defend his many accomplishments and expose Trump’s many lies.”

Legacy media outlets, such as the New York Times and the Chicago Tribune, published opinion pieces calling on Biden to bow out of the race after the debate, and former elected officials and other traditional allies of the party have made similar remarks.

As the controversy surrounding Biden’s health continues to swirl, the White House remains adamant that the president is fit for office. However, the growing chorus of voices calling for Biden to step aside may soon become too loud to ignore.
