Liticia James Faces New Lawsuit Over Actions Against Pro-Life Organizations. New York Attorney General Letitia James is facing a lawsuit from pro-life organizations, including the National Institute of Family and Life Advocates, Gianna’s House, and Options Care Center, represented by Alliance Defending Freedom. The lawsuit alleges that James is violating the First Amendment by targeting pro-life groups with lawsuits, accusing them of false advertising. The pro-life organizations provide support for the Abortion Pill Reversal protocol, which allows women to potentially reverse the effects of mifepristone and save their unborn child if they change their mind about going through with an abortion.
The lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York, shares the experience of a woman who was able to save her baby due to the reversal protocol after initiating an abortion. The suit argues that James is depriving women of truthful information about progesterone treatment, a safe option used by obstetrician-gynecologists for decades to help maintain pregnancies.
The pro-life groups are seeking to bar James from applying New York business law to target them for promoting the abortion pill reversal. Thomas Glessner, president and founder of the National Institute of Family and Life Advocates, stated that New York is denying women the freedom to continue their pregnancies by censoring those who promote it, forcing women to follow through with an abortion even if they don’t want to.
“Many women regret their abortions, and some seek to stop the effects of chemical abortion drugs before taking the second drug in the abortion drug process. Taking supplemental progesterone at that time can often save their baby’s life,” said Alliance Defending Freedom Legal Counsel Gabriella McIntyre.
This lawsuit comes amid a broader trend of pro-life organizations and pregnancy centers facing attacks from Democrat lawmakers and pro-abortion activists since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. Many of these organizations have been targeted with vandalism, harassment, and lawsuits, aimed at silencing their message and restricting their ability to provide support to women who are considering abortion.
The lawsuit highlights the importance of protecting the First Amendment rights of pro-life organizations and ensuring that women have access to truthful information about their options. By targeting pro-life groups with lawsuits and censorship, James and other pro-abortion advocates are denying women the freedom to make informed choices about their pregnancies and their health.
The Abortion Pill Reversal protocol is a safe and effective option for women who have changed their minds about undergoing an abortion. By providing access to this information and support, pro-life organizations are empowering women to make choices that align with their values and goals. By contrast, James and other pro-abortion advocates are seeking to restrict access to this information and silence the voices of those who provide it.
The outcome of this lawsuit will have significant implications for the First Amendment rights of pro-life organizations and the ability of women to access truthful information about their options. If James is successful in her efforts to target pro-life groups with lawsuits and censorship, it will send a chilling message to other organizations and individuals who seek to provide support and resources to women who are considering abortion.
