Byron Donalds: 'Republicans Will Deport Millions of Illegal Immigrants If They Win'

Byron Donalds: ‘Republicans Will Deport Millions of Illegal Immigrants If They Win’. Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) says that if Republicans gain control of the federal government, they will implement significant changes to border security and address the issue of illegal immigration.

In a Sunday interview, Donalds promised to reinstate Trump-era policies, including ending “catch-and-release” and reviving the “Remain in Mexico” policy. He also stated that millions of people who are in the country illegally will be deported, as cities and states are struggling to cope with the influx of migrants.

“So now what we are going to do is go back to ending ‘catch-and-release’ and go back to ‘Remain in Mexico.’ We will have to deport millions of people who should not be here because our cities and states simply cannot handle the flow of all these illegal migrants,” he continued.

Donalds criticized Joe Biden’s decision to reverse Trump’s border policies, calling it “stupid” and citing recent incidents, such as attempts to breach Quantico and scale the California border wall, as evidence of the need for stricter border control. He argued that Trump’s policies had secured the border, and Biden’s reversal of those policies has led to the current crisis.

The “Remain in Mexico” policy, also known as the Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP), was implemented by the Trump administration in 2019. It required asylum seekers to wait in Mexico while their cases were processed in the US. The policy was aimed at reducing the number of migrants entering the US illegally and alleviating the burden on border patrol agents and immigration courts.

Donalds also expressed support for legislation like H.R. 2, which would grant the president more authority to secure the nation’s borders. He argued that the current immigration system is broken and that drastic measures are needed to fix it.

The Republican party has long been critical of the Biden administration’s handling of the border crisis, and Donalds’ comments reflect the party’s commitment to addressing the issue. With the 2024 elections approaching, immigration is likely to be a key issue in the campaign, and Republicans are positioning themselves as the party of border security and law and order.

Donalds’ comments have sparked controversy, with some critics arguing that his proposals are too extreme and would lead to human rights violations. Immigration advocates have long argued that the “Remain in Mexico” policy is inhumane and puts asylum seekers at risk of violence and exploitation.

Despite the criticism, Donalds remains committed to his proposals, arguing that they are necessary to protect national security and public safety. He has also called for increased funding for border patrol agents and immigration courts, as well as measures to address the root causes of migration, such as poverty and violence in Central America.

The debate over immigration and border security is likely to continue in the coming months, with Republicans and Democrats holding vastly different views on the issue. As the 2024 elections approach, it remains to be seen how the issue will play out and what policies will be implemented to address the crisis.

In addition to his proposals on border security, Donalds has also called for reforms to the legal immigration system, including measures to reduce the backlog of immigration cases and increase the number of immigration judges. He has also expressed support for a merit-based immigration system, which would prioritize high-skilled workers over family-based immigration.
