The “God’s Plan” rapper, who is known to name-drop his ex-girlfriends in his music, says he now regrets doing it. Drake opened up to Yil Yachty, admitting that he has had the opportunity to reflect on this, and in retrospect, he could have done better.

Talking at the premiere episode of FUTUREMOOD’s “A Moody Conservation” hosted by Lil Yachty, Drake said, “I think that, and sometimes when I’ve said girls’ names in songs, maybe those are the two things that I look back on and I’m like, ‘Maybe I coulda done without, like, shitting on people for age or disrupting somebody’s life,'” Drake said.
Some of the songs that reference his girlfriends are “Short for me” (Alisha), “Club Paradise” (Leanne Sealey and Rose Mary), “From Time” (Courtney), and “In my feelings” (Keshia Chante).
The conversation veered and the rapper recalled his song, “Weston Road Flows.” Drake reflected, “The lyrics are never with ill intent, but I had somebody tell me one time, ‘You know, it’s not necessarily what you’re saying about me, it’s the fact that you said it.”
Drake admitted that one of his ex-girlfriends confronted him over his name-dropping, “Just in the sense like, ‘You don’t know what it does to me,’” she had told Drake. “‘You don’t know who my boyfriend is at the time or you don’t know what my family knows or doesn’t know. And if you express any form of discontent for me and call me by name in a song, then all of a sudden I’m left to pick up the pieces of my own life that I’ve tried to build up for myself.’”
