Milwaukee Men Accused of Shooting, Injuring 6-Year-Old Boy. Carlos DeNova, 21, and Amarri Watson, 20, of Milwaukee are accused of shooting a 6-year-old.
Milwaukee prosecutors have accused DeNova and Watson with various counts for the 38th and Villard shooting.
IMPD Chief Chris Bailey stated, “The probable cause document claims are very disappointing and distressing. He allegedly breached his holy pledge to our community and exploited his power by exploiting a vulnerable victim.”
The victim, Tarrance Scott Jr., was shot in the knee.
Tarrance Scott Jr. was hospitalized after the incident, which occurred when his family was going to bed.
Police found two gunshot strikes on the victim’s residence and eleven bullet casings on the street, according to a criminal complaint.
An hour before the incident, a neighboring gas station obtained film of DeNova driving a pickup truck with Watson as a passenger. DeNova raised a gun.
The pickup truck recklessly drove away from the petrol station toward the victim’s residence during the shooting.
A witness told police that DeNova confessed to shooting up the residence but was unsure whose gunfire hit the 6-year-old.
Three days after the incident, police arrested DeNova between 76th and Lapham. He tried to evade the arrest and threw a revolver, which police recovered.
Watson was arrested the next day. A forensic study showed that the scene’s bullet casings came from two firearms, one of which was located in Watson’s residence.
Watson told officials that DeNova drove him home the night of the incident. He said DeNova fired his rifle from the pickup truck, causing Watson to do so.
Carlos DeNova is charged with first-degree reckless harm, endangering safety with a dangerous weapon, felonious firearm possession, and misdemeanor resisting/obstructing an officer.
Amarri Watson faces first-degree reckless injury and dangerous weapon charges.
After their initial hearings, DeNova was scheduled for another court appearance on April 2 and Watson’s cash bond was $50,000.
