Family Seeks Answers After Loved One Killed in Shooting. The southwest Houston apartment complex shooting that murdered 37-year-old Tyrone Bonner has left his family devastated and seeking answers.
Houston police say 31-year-old Shaymone Fonteneaux shot and killed Bonner at his Willow Ridge apartment on March 2. Fonteneaux is also suspected of shooting Bonner’s cousin and roommate, who survived.
Bobby Swearington, Bonner’s cousin, called him a “all-around great guy,” outgoing, sports-loving, and smart.
However, that fatal evening left the family with tremendous questions and disbelief. Swearington shares her distress about not knowing the shooting’s motive:
“Why, what made her do that? What drove her to kill a father, brother, cousin, and son?”
Investigators say Fonteneaux went to the apartment complex to talk to Bonner. Their relationship and the shooting’s cause are unknown.
Bonner’s cousin, who watched the altercation, saw Fonteneaux standing over him with a revolver. Fonteneaux shot him as he fled, but he survived.
Swearington, who manages Fort Bend Memorial Planning Center, must arrange Bonner’s heartbreaking funeral. He recounts the loss’s deep impact on their family and the desperate need for clarity and closure.
“It really crushed our family, and we want answers now,” Swearington said.
Fonteneaux is on $130,000 bond for aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon and homicide. As court processes continue, the Bonner family prepares to say goodbye to Tyrone at Swearington’s funeral home on Saturday.
