At the Utah film festival, the oldest daughter of former US President Obama appeared on the red carpet. Malia Obama is causing a stir in the film industry.
The 25-year-old daughter of 62-year-old former US President Obama is headed to the Sundance Film Festival with a short film she created and directed.
Malia Obama Screens Short Film at Sundance. She worked on the project under the pseudonym Malia Ann (Ann is her middle name), titled The Heart. It will be shown at the festival as an American short fiction film.
According to THR, The Heart tells the story of a bereaved boy whose mother, before passing away, made a unique request for him in her will.
The film is about lost possessions, lonely people, forgiveness, and regret. Still, I also believe it tries hard to explore where warmth and connection may exist in those things, Malia said in an interview with the film festival for a part titled “Meet The Artist.”
Regarding the project, she said, “We hope you enjoy the film and it makes you feel a bit less lonely, or at least reminds you not to forget about the people who are.”
At the film festival, which takes place at the Prospector Square Theater in Park City, Utah, Malia made an appearance on the red carpet. She looked stylish in a gray maxi coat, a white button-down shirt, and black trousers. She accessorized her understated ensemble with brown boots and a gray scarf.
Malia was a writer for the thriller series Swarm on Prime Video in the past. Showrunner Janine Nabers, who worked on that set in March 2023, told the press that Malia, who attended Harvard, was an “incredible writer” who “brought a lot to the table.”
Nabers said, “She’s dedicated to her craft.”
The Obama family honored former first lady Michelle Obama’s 60th birthday this week. President Obama celebrated his wife of 31 years on Instagram on Wednesday, sharing a lovely photo of Michelle wearing a yellow sundress against the background of the ocean.
