70th Time is the Charm: Black Man Who Claims He Was Stopped 70 Times Sues Atlanta Police for Racial Profiling

Entrepreneur, Juty, founder of TJ Solution, Corp., a marketing firm which hehas been running since 2014, says he has been continuously racially-profiled by the Worcester Police Department.

“I feel like every single time, even if I’m not driving, and I make eye contact or an officer sees my dread or he sees I’m Black, they’re going to come after me,” Juty told GBH news.

The suit filed by Juty accuses the Police of racial profiling, and lodging of bogus charges of car-theft and drugs.

On November 17, 2021 Juty recorded an encounter on his smartphone camera, where he is told by the Police that his car did not match the color listed on his vehicle registration. “It’s a car wrap,” Juty is heard explaining to the officer. Following an argument over the wrap, Juty is arrested by the Police and charged with disturbance of power and interference with a Police officer.

In another incident dating back to 2020, he and his brother, were force to lay face down on cold pavement while handcuffed after a traffic stop. They were released after the police did not find anything to incriminate them.

In another incident, Juty is approached by an officer while he is having lunch in his car.

“I just know whenever they’re coming now, I just have my phone read to record,” Juty explains.

Joseph Hennessey, Juty’s attorney, who was himself a police officer for 23 years say, “In all of the police departments that I’ve ever dealt with, Worcester is the worst.”
