The long standing tension between 50 Cent and Joe Budden has flared up once again after Budden made comments about the GUnit mogul on his podcast. During a recent episode of The Joe Budden Podcast the former rapper turned media personality claimed that both 50 Cent and Kanye West “need therapy” citing their behavior in the public eye.
“Hip-hop is the new meaning for ‘I need therapy,’” Budden said. “Kanye West needs therapy. 50 Cent needs therapy. I don’t care if you agree with the rationale. And 50 is 50. He gon’ stand in it. He gon’ stand strong in it.”
What particularly caught Budden’s attention was 50 Cent’s reaction to the passing of Irv Gotti. The Get Rich or Die Tryin’ rapper had shared a post on social media featuring himself smoking a hookah next to a mock gravestone. Budden criticized 50’s approach saying. “If 50 feels like that, then go smoke a cigar in the cigar room. I’m not telling him how to feel. Yeah, feel like that! [But how he went about it] is wrong.”

Never one to shy away from confrontation, 50 Cent responded swiftly. Taking a screenshot of the podcast’s YouTube video he mocked Budden on Instagram, bringing up Budden’s recent legal troubles, including a stalking and lewdness case.
“Stay out my mix Joe talking about I need therapy. Btch, you need to stop walking around naked. The f_ck is you doing in the hallway with ya balls out, PUNK!” 50 wrote.
Over the years, Joe Budden and 50 Cent have had an on and off media rivalry. However, in 2023, 50 surprisingly acknowledged Budden’s past praise of his resilience. The Queens rapper reshared an old clip from Complex’s Everyday Struggle where Budden admitted that 50 had an unparalleled ability to beat the odds.
Despite the occasional moments of mutual respect, it seems the tension between the two is far from over, with 50 Cent continuing to defend his public persona while Budden critiques it from the sidelines.
